Learning for life activities
College students really got involved in a week long full programme of activities to raise their awareness about topics such as E safety and standing up to hatred. They were also encouraged to take up a new skill and the “knit and natter” sessions proved very popular, students and staff knitted scarves to send to orphanages, for some students this was the first time they had picked up a pair of knitting needles! They also had the opportunity to have a ride on the smoothie bike, learn some martial arts skills and have their blood pressure taken as part of the health and wellbeing programme. The week culminated in over 150 students taking part in the “Litter Picking” volunteering programme, students learned how volunteering can really make a difference and were proud to be involved in helping to clean up the areas where they learn and live.
Learning for life activities   ”At College we really encourage our students to take part in community projects and it was great that so many of them volunteered to take part in the litter picking project around both the Town Centre and Farnworth Campuses. After much hard work and intensive litter picking there was a really noticeable difference to the areas around College. We hope that other young people in Bolton will start taking more responsibility for keeping the town clean and tidy” Sarah Ball Teacher of Business.
